Principal's Message

Welcome to Jim Satterfield Middle School!

At Jim Satterfield Middle School, we believe that JSMS approaches its work as a family unit. Every student who walks through our doors is an important part of that family, and we are committed to creating a school environment where students feel safe, comfortable, supported, valued, and encouraged to grow.

Student safety and comfort are foremost in everything we do. We understand that students learn best when they know they are cared for and when they have trusted adults who believe in their potential. Our faculty and staff work together to build meaningful relationships with students, establish high expectations, and provide the support necessary for every student to experience success.

My goal is to ensure that each student's time at JSMS is filled with meaningful opportunities to grow—not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, and personally. Middle school is an important part of a young person's journey toward becoming a productive and responsible member of society. I strive to ensure that each year a student spends at JSMS forms a strong link in the chain leading toward the adult they aspire to become.

We also recognize that success looks different for every student. At JSMS, we strive to provide students with opportunities to discover pathways that align with their interests, talents, and aptitudes. Through academics, athletics, extracurricular activities, career exploration, and other experiences, we want students to begin asking important questions about their future. What are they interested in? What are they good at? What careers or pathways might fit their strengths? And, perhaps most importantly, what will those pathways require of them along the way?

Our responsibility is not simply to prepare students for the next grade level. We want to help prepare them for life beyond JSMS. We want our students to leave us with stronger academic skills, greater confidence, a sense of responsibility, an understanding of their own strengths, and the determination to pursue their goals.

This work requires all of us—students, families, teachers, staff, and community members—to work together. When we operate as a family, hold one another accountable, celebrate growth, and remain focused on what is best for our students, we create an environment where young people can thrive.

At JSMS, we are building more than successful students. We are helping build the adults our students are striving to become—one year, one opportunity, and one strong link at a time.

I am honored to serve the students, families, faculty, and staff of Jim Satterfield Middle School. I look forward to another year of learning, growth, opportunity, and success as we continue to move forward together.

Go Yellow Jackets!
